Former Maria Actor Arrested For Allegedly Beating 7-year-Old Daughter
Drama ensued at Milimani Law Courts on Wednesday after a popular actor who starred in Kenyan soap opera Maria was arrested together with his wife.
The actor was attending a hearing and upon leaving the courtroom he was arrested by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The actor had been accused of beating his seven-year-old daughter on diverse dates between October 2022 and February 2023 at a residence in Karen Plains, Nairobi County.
The actor attempted to resist the arrest but the officers subdued him and escorted him to a police truck parked outside the courts where he was handcuffed.
Dressed in a white T-shirt, white canvas, and a pair of green trousers, the actor covered his face with both hands while being escorted.
According to reports, the actor and his wife are currently being held at Karen police station.

Reports indicate that the duo is set to be arraigned at Kibera Law Courts on November 30, 2023.
The two are facing various charges including child cruelty which is contrary to Section 25 of the Children Act number 29 of 2022.
This comes after the actor, on February 16, 2023, was reportedly arrested and detained at the Karen Police Station following an altercation with a Nigerian national.
After the episode, the actor claimed that he was held at the police station illegally and denied bail by the officers.
In a further twist, the actor alleged that the Nigerian national was paying Kenyan police officers to keep him in custody.
He also claimed that the Nigerian national attacked him at his house and assaulted him in front of his family including his wife and daughter.
