Former IEBC Chairman Shortlisted for IPOA Chairperson Job
Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Ahmed Issack Hassan has made the shortlist for an interview for the role of Chairperson of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA).
On Tuesday, October 8, the Public Service Commission (PSC) announced that Hassan is among eight candidates selected for consideration.
The PSC indicated that the selection panel had received a total of 22 applications for the IPOA chairperson role, along with 304 applications for IPOA member positions.
“Following the provisions of Sections 8, 9, and 10 of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority Act of 2011, the selection panel initiated the recruitment process for the Chairperson and Members of the IPOA on September 13, 2024. The advertisement closed on September 27, yielding 22 applications for the Chairperson role and 304 for the Member positions.

“After reviewing the applications, the Selection Panel has shortlisted eight candidates for the Chairperson role and 37 for Member positions, who will proceed to interviews,” stated part of the PSC notice.
Other shortlisted candidates for the IPOA Chairperson role include former IEBC Commissioner Thomas Letangule, Annah Konuche (Nandi), Patrick Blasius Owiny (Siaya), Mercy Wambui Kamau (Nakuru), Wayong’o Cyril Simiyu (Bungoma), Juliet Wanjiku Muremi (Kiambu), and Richard Barno (Uasin Gishu).
Hassan is scheduled to appear before the interview panel on Wednesday, October 23, at noon.
The PSC has invited the public to provide any credible information regarding the shortlisted candidates by submitting affidavits to the PSC Chairperson before October 16.
“Members of the public are encouraged to submit credible information concerning any of the shortlisted candidates via affidavits to the Chairperson through email at ipoa2024@publicservice.go.ke, or in person at the Office of the Secretary/CEO, Public Service Commission, located on the 4th floor of Commission House, off Harambe Avenue, Nairobi, by October 16, 2024,” the PSC announced.
