Fear Grips Haiti as Gang Leader ‘Barbecue’ Issues Warning After Transition Council Takes Over

Haiti’s most feared gang leader, Jimmy Cherizier, known as Barbecue, issued a severe warning as deployment approaches after the presidential transitional council was sworn in.

Barbecue advised the new council to prepare for a tougher fight now that it has taken over from former Prime Minister Ariel Henry.

According to reports, the gang leader issued a warning about a possible coup after the new council excluded him from discussions about the takeover.

“Whether or not you’re installed, this message is for you: Brace yourselves,” Barbecue declared.

Shortly after the gang leader completed his threats, shots were fired nearby, signaling the gang’s resolve to oppose the new regime.

Barbecue, while issuing the warning, recommended that the presidential transitional council reconsider their plans and vowed to strongly resist them. His goal was to prevent any possible foreign interference that the council might provoke.

The Haiti gang led by Barbecue has been accused of carrying out numerous sexual assaults, kidnapping people for ransom, and engaging in indiscriminate murders.

Barbecue’s statement was issued after President William Ruto of Kenya acknowledged the new council and pledged Kenya’s support for the Caribbean nation.

“TPC has the singular task of moving speedily to re-establish key organs of the State critical to the restoration of law and order and necessary for the ushering of hope to all Haitians,” Ruto stated.

“Kenya stands ready and willing- in concert with a broad alliance of nations in Africa and CARICOM- committed to Haiti’s stability, to rapidly execute the security support,” the head of state added.

In March of this year, the gang leader issued a similar threat to the Kenyan police, promising to resist the deployment.

Barbecue declared he would view Kenyan police as hostile forces due to their involvement in disrupting the sovereignty of the war-torn nation.

“We will consider them as invaders and we do not have to collaborate with any invaders that have come to walk over our independence,” Barbecue stated.
