Fatal Outering Road Blockade: 1 Protester Dead

On Tuesday, July 25, protests broke out along Outering Road after irate youth barricaded the road during a confrontation with police officers over the death of a resident.

Multiple sources verified to GossipA2Z that police officers were dispatched to the area to apprehend thieves accused of robbing residents and motorists.

However, the mission turned fatal when the youth resisted and pelted the officers with stones.

The detectives opened fire in retaliation to disperse the disorderly throng. A teenager was shot and killed during the procedure.

Infuriated by the turn of events, protesters responded by barricading Outering Road and igniting bonfires to obstruct traffic.

According to the sources, the incensed youth allegedly set fire to the home of a police informant who resided in the area.

The altercation caused a traffic jam that persisted for hours. Huruma, Juja Road, Allsops, and Kariobangi roundabout were also affected.

When this article was published, the standoff between the police and the juveniles was still ongoing.

Online videos depicted smoke wafting from the area as vehicles utilizing the route detoured around it.

“Avoid Outering Road at Kiamaiko. There are demonstrations available. The police are using tear gas to disperse the throng. What is happening?” Twitter user posed a question.

Interior CS Kithure Kindiki had cautioned belligerent protestors, stating that police officers would be deployed to prevent any disorder.

“We wanted to see if Kenyans could conduct nonviolent protests weeks ago. But by the time police were dispatched, three hours later, a great deal of harm had been done in various parts of the country and it was too late.”

“That was a week ago. We decided not to commit the same crimes as the same perpetrators. We will maintain our resolve,” he said.
