Exclusive Investigation: Unveiling the Mystery Behind the Tragic Death of the Student Found Floating in Laikipia Dam
A post-mortem on the body of Stallion Kipletting Bett, a Form One student at Ndururumo High School in Laikipia County who went missing two weeks ago and whose body was later discovered floating in a dam, revealed that he drowned.
Wednesday’s autopsy results at the Nyahururu County Referral Hospital mortuary came as the family of 14-year-old Bett continued to demand answers from the institution regarding the cause of his death.
“Based on my examination, I think that drowning was the cause of death. The body had no external or internal injuries, and the major organs were unharmed. Possible cause of death is drowning,’ the report stated.
Since then, samples of the kidney and other body parts have been transported to the Government Chemist in Nairobi. For further examination.
Bett disappeared on May 24 from the school on the outskirts of Nyahururu town.
The institution’s surveillance cameras captured him with other students around 6 p.m., his last known sighting. Following his disappearance, the school and his family began searching for him.
Relatives were contacted by phone in case he had gone to their residences. And residents of the nearby Kiamaina slums were asked if they had seen Bett.

At the Nyahururu police station, a missing person’s report was filed. And the student’s photos were shared on various social media platforms.
Try to locate the student
A group of family members and local youths was assembled and dispatched to search for the student.
His body was discovered floating in an artificial dam at the Nyahururu Sports Club on Saturday.
However, Nyahururu Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner Muthike Ndambuki. Stated that the circumstances surrounding the student’s death and how he ended up at the dam had not yet been determined. But that an investigation had been initiated.
“His body was discovered floating on the dam, and at this time we are unable to determine the exact cause of his death due to the lack of visible evidence. “However, the matter is under investigation,” Mr. Ndambuki stated.
However, the family expresses dissatisfaction with the explanations provided by the institution, education officials, and police.
“Now that the autopsy has revealed that he drowned, we have many questions: how did he escape the school with the most CCTV cameras and end up at the dam at the most heavily guarded sports and golf club? A relative inquired, “Did he drown himself at the dam, or was he drowned?”
The adolescent’s father, Mr. Barnabas Bett. Who described his son as obedient and diligent, stated that he never exhibited any reluctance to return to school when he reported for the second term last month.
