Entertainer Hype Ballo Released on Sh500,000 Bail in DCI Officer Murder Case
Popular entertainer Allan Ochieng, also known as Hype Ballo,ย has been granted releaseย on a Sh500,000 cash bail.
Hype Ballo faces charges related to the death of Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer Felix Kelian.
Officer Kelian, who was attached to the Kabete Police Station, passed away on March 21 from injuries allegedly resulting from a road rage incident a week earlier.
The supposed assault took place on March 16 after the officer was involved in a minor traffic accident around 4 am in the Kikuyu market area.
Police stated that Kelian did not reveal his status as an officer during the incident.
Ballo had been detained since his arrest on Marchย 23,ย after the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution, through attorney Jenifer Ndeda, requested his detention pending a social inquiry report by Probation and Aftercare.

On Wednesday, Kiambu Law Court’s Lady Justice Dorah Chepkwony granted Ballo a Sh500,000 bond with a matching surety or an alternative Sh500,000 cash bail.
While setting the bail conditions, Lady Justice Chepkwony mandated the accused to attend all court hearings and report to DCI Kikuyu Sub-county on the first day of each month until the main witness testifies.
She also instructed the accused to stay under the supervision of the Kibera area chief until his case is resolved.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution stated the case will be reviewed on May 22, 2024, for pre-trial and to set a hearing date.
Hype Ballo was apprehended along with six others, including DJ Joe Mfalme, in connection with Kelian’s death.
The others involved were Eric Kariuki Gathua, Simon Wambugu Wanjiru, Khadija Abdi Wako, Sammy Cheruiyot Rotich, and Agnes Kerubo Mogoire.
The six individuals were later released and transformed into prosecution witnesses.
