Duale on Falling Out with Raila: The Inside Story

Aden Duale, the defense cabinet secretary, has explained why he fell out with Raila Odinga, the leader of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party.

Speaking on Citizen TV’s JKLive Show on Wednesday, Duale claimed that Odinga betrayed him politically during the 2008 government of the Grand Coalition, even though the former Garissa Township MP was his chief campaigner in the Northern Kenya region.

CS Duale, who was elected on an ODM ticket at the time. Claims that the former prime minister and the late President Mwai Kibaki failed to appoint him to the Cabinet. Because they chose Mohamed Yusuf Haji, who was from the same district as Duale, as the Defense Minister.

According to him, Odinga’s outright refusal to appoint him was an act of betrayal.

“I was a Baba loyalist. Baba enrolled me in the politics school. We primarily campaigned for Raila Odinga in Muslim areas…Duale stated, “I was his chief campaigner in the North, both in terms of numbers and resources, and that was when the politics of deceit began.”

“When the cabinet of the grand coalition was being formed, Raila Odinga looked me in the eyes and said, ‘Kibaki has appointed another candidate, Haji, to be the Minister of Defence, so we cannot have two of you from the same county or district.'”

He added, “I recall telling him that he should have informed me, as I would have gone to PNU and competed with Haji for the ministerial position, ‘I was a member of your coalition'”

The outspoken CS. Who is a staunch supporter of President William Ruto. Went on to blame the former premier for his dismissal as Assistant Agriculture Minister alongside Ruto, who was his superior.

“It was Raila who dismissed Ruto…William Ruto and I both lost our jobs on the same day. It was approximately 3 o’clock. “I was in my office when I noticed the following ministers had been fired,” he said.

Duale remained adamant. Citing the aftermath of the infamous Handshake between Odinga and former President Uhuru Kenyatta. That Odinga would continue to betray his supporters. If, for example, a similar agreement were to be reached with the current regime.

“The only aspect of Baba that disappoints me is that he continues to engage in politics of deceit and betrayal even today. “Baba went and shook hands with Uhuru without consulting Kalonzo, Mudavadi, or Wetangula, and he will do the same if there is to be a handshake, which I doubt,” he noted.
