DP Gachagua Questions Wajackoyah: ‘I’d Like To Know Which Good Bhang Is This You Are Talking About’
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua amused the crowd by humorously addressing former Roots Party Presidential candidate George Wajackoyah’s association with marijuana.
Addressing attendees in Nyandarua County at the funeral of Priesthood Church Bishop JJ Gitahi’s mother, the Deputy President expressed some unease regarding Wajackoyah’s advocacy for marijuana, stating that while he didn’t necessarily view Wajackoyah negatively, he simply wished to comprehend the specific type of harmless cannabis the Azimio stalwart was promoting.
“Bwana Wajackoya mimi sio mtu mbaya. You’re also not a bad man. Nilikuwa tu nakuogopa, vile ulikuwa unasema vijana wavute ile kitu na unajua hapa tuko na shida sana na iyo kitu,” he said.
Gachagua stated his plan to invite Wajackoyah to a meeting, aiming to provide the Deputy President with a better understanding of the true properties of his particular strain of cannabis. He mentioned that the Deputy President needed some education on the matter, as he described him as lacking intelligence.
“Lakini umesema sio ile, so wewe nitakuita uniambie ni gani. I’d like you to tell me which good bhang is this you are talking about…ndio nierevuke,” he said, amid laughter from the audience.
“[Because] I am not very intelligent. Unajua mi sijasoma sana, sijui mambo mingi so utanielimisha kidogo ndio nierevuke niweze kujua kidogo… “
When he turned his attention to Wajackoyah, the unconventional politician rose from his seat and made sweeping gestures towards the mourners, clad in his distinctive durag and vibrant t-shirt.

Professor George Wajackoyah’s primary electoral pledge revolved around advocating for the legalization of marijuana cultivation and manufacturing for both industrial and medicinal purposes in Kenya. This proposal aimed to address two significant challenges facing the nation: high unemployment rates and a rapidly increasing national debt.
During his interview with the BBC, Wajackoyah asserted that although he hadn’t previously indulged in marijuana use, he would gladly be the inaugural individual to partake in the celebration should Kenya legalize it.
“There is nothing wrong with smoking it when it is legalized and the regulatory bodies have approved for it to be smoked,” he then said.
Professor Wajackoyah also highlighted snake farming as another significant cornerstone of Kenya’s economy.
He mentioned that snake venom, purportedly valued “more than gold,” would be collected for the production of anti-venom for medical purposes. Additionally, he stated that snake meat would be sent abroad, particularly to nations like China, where it is considered a prized delicacy.
“We can have a billion dollars every year to sustain the economy,” Prof Wajackoyah then said.
The Deputy President and his partner, Pastor Dorcas Gachagua, have remained resolute in their efforts to combat alcoholism and substance abuse among the youth in Kenya.
