DP Gachagua Now Blames Uhuru For ‘Fake’ Generator Behind JKIA Power Outages
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has supported Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen amid the frequent electricity disruptions encountered at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
At the Kimalel Goat Auction and Cultural Festival in Baringo County, Gachagua advised the audience to refrain from harshly criticizing Murkomen and dismissed suggestions for his resignation, attributing fault to the former government led by Uhuru Kenyatta.
Gachagua said the current generator is fake.
Asking the public to stop attacking political leaders, Mr Gachagua said the “fake” generator was inherited from the Kenyatta government asking the CS to purchase a new generator.
“Huyu Kipchumba anajaribu, na kuna wengine niliona wakimkemea ati ajiuzuru kwa sababu generator imekataa kufanya kazi pale JKIA, huyu Kipchumba ndie alinunua hiyo generator? Sasa Kipchumba tafuta generator yako uweke wacha na ile ya wale watufuta generator yako uweke wacha na ile ya wale watu,” he said.
The power failures happened on August 25 and November 11, with the latter enduring for more than 12 hours until electricity was completely reinstated nationwide.
Murkomen, similar to Gachagua, has attributed the current challenges at the international airport to the previous government.
