DP Gachagua Leads Dowry Negotiations as Mathira MP Weds Muranga Woman Rep (PHOTOS)
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was the lead negotiator at the traditional wedding of Mathira Member of Parliament Eric Wamumbi and Muranga Woman Representative Betty Maina.
The event was held at the rural home of Maina in Muranga County on Saturday.
Wamumbi is Gachagua’s home MP and his immediate successor in Parliament.
Being the chief negotiator at the traditional wedding referred to as ratio, the DP donned the traditional brown attire shirt embroidered with tiny white shells.
Gachagua’s style was similar to some male MPs who were supporting their colleagues during the negotiations.
On the other hand, female lawmakers who were gracing the event wore African print dresses with brown patterns.

Lawmakers across the political divide who attended the traditional wedding include Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi, and Langata MP Phelix Odiwuor (Jalang’o).
Also present were Mumias East MP Peter Salasya, Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka, and South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro, among other leaders.
Leaders who graced the event noted that the occasion was special given that it was the first time under the current political dispensation that two sitting MPs were tying the knot.
The groom also noted that it was a remarkable milestone in his life as he was wedding the love of his life.
“Whoever finds a wife, gets a good thing, and obtains favor from God. It’s that day,” he stated.
