DJ Joe Mfalme Breaks Silence After Arrest For Allegedly Beating DCI Officer To Death
Renowned DJ Joe Mfalme, also known as Joseph Mwenda, has spoken out following his apprehension in connection with the demise of a high-ranking officer from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) following an altercation in Kiambu County.
Mwenda, together with his bouncer, chauffeur, and photographer, reportedly assaulted Felix Kelian, Deputy DCIO of Kabete Police Station, in Kikuyu market on March 16.
Over the weekend, law enforcement apprehended the DJ along with three police officers stationed at the Kikuyu Police Station.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Mwenda expressed that he and his team have been working together with investigative agencies following what they described as an unfortunate incident.
“We express our deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and all those impacted by this unfortunate incident. DJ Joe Mfalme and his team have been in close collaboration with the investigative agencies since the occurrence of the incident,” read the statement posted on social media.
Mwenda said they will cooperate as required, adding that they trust in God and authorities general to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation to “uncover the truth”.
“Given the ongoing investigations and the sensitive nature of the matter, we shall refrain from making any further statements at this time,” the deejay, who is presently detained at the Kabete Police Station, added.
‘NON-INJURY TRAFFIC ACCIDENT’
According to accounts, Mwenda, accompanied by his bouncer, chauffeur, photographer, and a female companion, was driving back home around 4 am following their performance at the Kikuyu club on that eventful Saturday.
Police say a “non-injury traffic accident” involving inspector Felix Kelian and the DJ’s vehicle at the club’s parking lot sparked an altercation.
The DJ’s vehicle was allegedly struck from behind by the officer. However, before the matter could be resolved by traffic officers from Kikuyu Police Station, the DJ and his crew purportedly assaulted Kelian.
It is claimed that three officers arrived at the location, apprehended Kelian, and transported him to Kikuyu Police Station. Subsequently, Mwenda and his team arrived, but they were eventually permitted to depart without providing a statement.
The DCI officer experienced abdominal discomfort, prompting an urgent transfer to Langata Hospital and later to Nairobi West Hospital, where he passed away on Friday.
A medical examination reveals that Kelian sustained injuries to his urinary bladder, and upon reaching the hospital, he experienced a four-hour inability to urinate.
It indicates blunt abdominal trauma as the immediate cause of death.
The trio of law enforcement officers apprehended alongside Mwenda comprises Khadija Abdi Wako, Sammy Rotich Cherono, and Agnes Kerubo Mugo.
Six individuals have been apprehended in connection with the incident, as law enforcement continues their search for additional suspects, including a woman believed to have been present at the scene.
