Nairobi, Kenya โ March 19, 2025 โ President William Ruto held high-level talks with King Letsie III of Lesotho at State House, Nairobi, on Wednesday, March 19. The meeting focused on strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.
Strengthening Relations
After the meeting, President Ruto highlighted the warm friendship between Kenya and Lesotho. He emphasized their commitment to enhancing cooperation in various sectors.
โWe affirmed the strong and cordial relations between our two nations and deliberated on ways of enhancing them,โ Ruto stated.
Joint Commission on Cooperation
To deepen collaboration, the two leaders directed their Foreign Ministers to convene the Joint Commission on Cooperation (JCC). This platform will explore new areas of partnership between Kenya and Lesotho.

Focus on School Feeding Programs
Education and nutrition were key topics during the discussions. The leaders shared insights on school feeding programs in both countries. Kenya-Netherlands Agreements
The meeting came just a day after Kenya and the Netherlands signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and a Letter of Intent.
On March 18, State House announced that the agreements aim to boost trade and agricultural cooperation. The MoUs cover the creation of a Joint Trade Committee to promote bilateral trade and the establishment of an Agriculture Working Group.
Another MoU focuses on tourism collaboration, encouraging more Dutch tourists to visit Kenya and increasing Dutch investment in the countryโs tourism sector.
Major Investment in Water Projects
Additionally, Dutch company Invest International committed Ksh423 million to support two key water projects in Kenya: the Naivasha Special Economic Zone Water Supply and Sanitation Project and the Sabaki Bulk Water Supply Project.
