    Decades of Abuse: Man Sentenced to 27 Years for Confining, Beating and Sexually Assaulting Mama Fua

    Simon Mwita Mwere has been sentenced to 27 years in prison for the imprisonment, assault, abuse, and sexual assault of his laundry worker, commonly known as Mama Fua.

    The individual referred to only as “H” was working as a laundry worker when the disturbing incident occurred. How did he end up behind bars?

    Njeri Wa Migwi, the founder of Usikimye, revealed in a statement that her organization provided support to the woman throughout the legal proceedings.

    “We stood by H every step of the way, culminating in yesterday’s sentencing. Despite threats from him, we never missed a court date or left her alone,” the statement partly read.

    To ensure her safety during the trial, the victim’s identity was kept confidential. The sentencing took place on Monday, May 27, 2024, following a legal battle supported by a local group.

    Man Arrested for Assaulting Woman Captured on CCTV

    In recent news, a Nigerian man seen on CCTV assaulting a Kenyan woman in a wheelchair has been apprehended.

    Ministry of Gender Principal Secretary Ann Wangombe and nominated senator Gloria Orwoba issued a statement confirming the arrest of John Nwankwo Noko, who is now facing deportation.

    They commended Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki for swiftly facilitating the suspect’s deportation.

    Kakamega Resident Arrested for Attacking Banana Vendor

    In another incident, a Kakamega resident got into trouble after refusing to pay KSh 40 for bananas he consumed.

    Wellington Pera not only failed to settle his bill but also assaulted the vendor who demanded payment.

    According to police reports, Pera physically attacked the vendor who requested KSh 40 for the bananas he had eaten.

    Pera was brought before Kakamega Chief Magistrate Julius Ngarngar for his actions.

    Interestingly, Pera, who had previously been defiant, expressed remorse for his behavior when facing assault charges before the magistrate.
