DCI Nabs Wounded Robbery Suspect Shot by Accomplice
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested a man in critical condition on Tuesday. The suspect was believed to have been implicated in multiple crimes in the past.
DCI officials disclosed in a statement that detectives discovered the individual at his residence in Makongeni, Thika, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The detectives seized a Ceska pistol from the suspect during the operation; the weapon was believed to have been stolen in January 2023 from a civilian firearm holder in Kahawa Sukari.
The DCI stated that detectives pursued the injured suspect to his residence in response to a report from members of the public that a drive-by assailant in a Toyota Probox had sprayed bullets at an unidentified individual near the Thika Level 5 Hospital on Monday.
Detectives discovered the severely injured man in a critical condition upon their arrival at the suspect’s residence, prompting them to transport him to the hospital.
“Efforts by medical officers and the police to identify the patient proved futile when no identifying document was found on him and, though he could speak, expressed unwillingness to give his name,” the DCI said in its statement.

Subsequently, the officers proceeded with a forensic identification procedure, which yielded his identity. They subsequently identified his residence as an apartment situated in Kiganjo, Makongeni.
The DCI reports that during a search of the suspect’s residence, a Ceska pistol containing 15 rounds of ammunition was discovered concealed beneath the carpet.
Investigations have disclosed, according to the DCI’s statement, that the shot suspect may be acquainted with his assailants.
Additionally, according to the DCI, the two parties were purportedly involved in a dispute regarding a prior confrontation before the discharge of the gunshots.
The DCI disclosed that on the same day, two suspects engaged in a spate of robberies at gunpoint and robbed three civilians from Landless Section 2.
A mobile phone and cash were both lost by the victims in the incident. They were on-site inspecting of a parcel of land they had acquired at the time.
