DCI: Forensic Evidence Links Suspect to Murder of Wells Fargo Manager

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are questioning a suspect in connection with the violent murder of Willis Ayieko, a human resources manager at Wells Fargo.

Victor Ouma Okoth was apprehended on Monday night in Dandora Phase Four, Nairobi, after evading capture following the murder incident in Nyamninia, Siaya County.

Sources reveal that Okoth, originally from Siaya, withdrew over Ksh.100,000 from the victim’s mobile phone in Dandora on Friday. He used these funds to rent a hideout before his eventual arrest.

“He arrived here around ten with some belongings… we had no idea he was a murderer,” said Kevin Omondi, a resident, in an interview with Citizen TV.

“The day he showed up, everything seemed fresh. We only noticed government activity here yesterday,” added Keffe Teche, another nearby resident.

Detectives have found forensic evidence linking Okoth to the murder scene. They are also investigating potential accomplices, as autopsy findings suggest that Ayieko suffered blunt-force trauma to the head.

“The body was significantly decomposed. We identified injuries, bleeding, and bruises on the wrists,” stated Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor.

“Most importantly, we were able to confirm his identity,” Pathologist Emily Odhiambo noted.

Beyond identifying the cause of death, the pathologist team meticulously searched for critical details, including DNA evidence on the victim’s body.

Investigators are utilizing the DNA evidence collected during the autopsy to strengthen the connection between the suspect and the brutal murder of Ayieko.

Meanwhile, Ayieko’s grieving family, who attended the postmortem at Lee Funeral Home, is calling for swift investigations and the prompt prosecution of those responsible for their son’s death.

“I urge our community to remain patient, as we are hopeful that the truth will emerge. We are traumatized; the family is in distress,” stated Samuel Atandi, MP for Alego Usonga and the family’s spokesperson.

“This is extremely tragic; I never anticipated such an event could happen to someone like Willis,” remarked Siaya Governor James Orengo.

Ayieko’s body was found in a small stream in Nyamninia last Wednesday, three days after he was reported missing.
