DCI Boss Amin Mohamed Issues Security Alert Ahead of Christmas

Director of Criminal Investigations Amin Mohamed has directed his officers to enhance their vigilance as the country heads to the festive season.

During a meeting with senior DCI officers in Nairobi on Friday, Mohamed directed the officers to ensure they covered all parts of the country throughout the festivities.

He explained that criminal elements often take advantage of the festivities and target innocent Kenyans in the process.

“Amin noted that it was at such a season of the year when criminals in their numbers set out to interrupt the peace and safety of the citizens through violent robberies, breakings, and all manner of felonies.

“He therefore directed the commanders to mobilize their strengths for round-the-clock coverages, to ensure that Kenyans were assured of adequate security as they continued with their daily economic ventures & celebratory activities,” read DCI’s statement in part.

On the other hand, he noted that the investigative agency was prepared to deal with cases of insecurity, fighting some of the milestones achieved by the agency this year.

Meanwhile, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki detailed that all police officers on leave would be recalled back to duty explaining the need to have enough officers during the festivities.

“For us in the security sector, this is our busiest season, as everybody retreats for holiday, we have mobilized ourselves.

“All those officers on leave will forfeit their leaves and we will be on duty and alert,” Kindiki stated while appearing before the National Assembly Security Committee on November 8.

Kenyans are set to begin celebrations of the festivities in the next two weeks.

During the period, many Kenyans are expected to travel to reunite with their families for the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
