CS Kuria Breaks Silence, Heads to DCI Amidst Jacque Maribe’s Job Saga

Moses Kuria, the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, has issued a response regarding the recent news concerning Jacque Maribe, the former journalist from Citizen TV, allegedly being appointed to lead communications within his ministry.

This follows the statement from the Public Service Commission denying its participation in the hiring process for the position.

CS Kuria refuted claims of conversing with Nation Media Group regarding Maribe’s appointment and provided evidence of a text message he alleged was falsified to make it seem like he had stated the matter.

The Cabinet Secretary also mentioned his intention to visit the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to file a report regarding the purported forgery.

“Contrary to reports by the Nation, I have never been interviewed by the media house nor made any comment nor announcement about Jacque Maribe. I have challenged CEO Stephen Gitagama to provide evidence from one Mwangi Muiruri who wrote the article.

“I have since alerted Mr Gitagama that the said screenshot is a forgery and I will be at DCI Headquarters at 9.30 a.m. tomorrow to report the Nation Media Group and the reporter of fraud and forgery,” he said.

CS Kuria asserted that the purportedly falsified document implied the Public Service Commission’s involvement in Maribe’s appointment.

Nevertheless, although disapproving of the mentioned text, the ex-MP has upheld Jacque, citing a 16-year friendship between them.

“Meanwhile I stand with Jacque Maribe, my friend for the last 16 years and I will stand with her just like I stood with Gov Kawira Mwangaza in the wake of unjustified bullying,” he added.

Public Service Commission statement

On Thursday, the Public Service Commission rejected the appointment of Jacque Maribe as the Communication Head at the Ministry of Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management.

In a press release dated Thursday, March 14, Ambassador Anthony Muchiri, who chairs the PSC, explicitly stated that the commission hasn’t appointed Maribe for the role nor received any requests for her employment.

He emphasized, “For the record, the said position will be filled through a competitive recruitment process should a vacancy arise.”

Following the announcement of Maribe’s appointment, it sparked intense discussions across social media platforms.

Jacque Maribe was subsequently seen at an occasion where CS Kuria was present, prompting further inquiries about her involvement.
