CS Duale Reveals New Details About Ogolla’s Contentious Visit to Bomas
Defense Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale disclosed that General Francis Ogolla’s visit to Bomas during the counting of the 2022 presidential election results was not his decision, but he was instead pressured by his superiors.
At General Ogolla’s funeral service in Siaya County, Duale stated that General Ogolla, who was then the Vice Chair of Defence Forces, did not have permission to attend the Bomas proceedings because he wasn’t a member of the National Security Council (NSC). Duale suggested that Ogolla was acting under the instructions of individuals within the influential council.
Duale argued that Ogolla’s presence was questionable, but he was supposedly told that the decision had been made by the highest levels of the country’s leadership and was final.
The CS asserted that he was even shown texts of the supposed orders.
To address this, Duale stated that President Ruto had given an order to prevent a similar situation from occurring again.

Duale mentioned that Gen Ogolla justified his attendance at the event to his superiors, citing that he had information indicating the results would be announced at 3 PM.
“Today I want to confirm the President has directed that members of the National Security Committee, can never again delegate the attendance of their membership to their juniors,” stated Duale.
He was informed that he was required to stay at Bomas and accompany his coworkers.
“Gen Ogolla sent a text message saying the results would be announced at 3 PM, as a general as soldier what am I doing here he was told to stay with your colleagues,” explained Duale.
Duale emphasized that the late CDF was an honorable individual without any political ties, refuting the allegations that he tried to interfere with Ruto’s declaration as President.
He also encouraged Kenyans to refrain from promoting a misleading narrative about the late General that portrays him in a negative light.
