Confusion As Female Student In Siaya Gets Form One Placement In A Boys’ National School
The family of a 14-year-old girl who achieved the highest score in the KCPE examinations at Nyalgunga primary school in the Alego/Usonga sub-county last year is currently experiencing bewilderment after she was enrolled in Form One at Lenana, a school predominantly for boys.
Gloria Adhiambo Owino and her family were filled with happiness when she scored 389 points, enabling her to secure a spot at a prestigious national school.
Their happiness didn’t last long as she eagerly attempted to retrieve her acceptance letter, only to realize that she had been designated to a school exclusively for boys.
Gloria, interviewed by Radio Ramogi at her family home in Nyalgunga trading center, mentioned that she had been accepted into Lenana School, an institution exclusively for boys.

The student currently stuck asserts that she attempted unsuccessfully to wait for another acceptance letter since she had chosen multiple schools in the National Schools category, such as Alliance, Starehe Girls, and Kisumu Girls.
Apart from the bewilderment resulting from the error in her Form One assignment, Gloria also confronts the prospect of being unable to pursue her high school education because of her modest upbringing.
She asserts that although she desires to enroll at Kisumu Girls, her parents lack the financial means to cover her tuition. Consequently, she is appealing to the government, community leaders, and philanthropic individuals for assistance, aiming to fulfill her ambition of becoming a medical doctor.
Margaret Awuor Halowe, Gloria’s mother, asserts that their attempts to secure scholarships from banking institutions were unsuccessful.
She has requested assistance from supporters to secure the right educational placement for her daughter and to assist with covering the expenses of her school fees.
