Chef Husband Murders and Stuff Wife’s Body in Suitcase

Morris Njuguna Mwangi, age 28, and his cousin Francis Chege are the murder suspects.

Two men are scheduled to appear in court today (Monday) in connection with the murder of a woman whose body was discovered wrapped in a suitcase and dumped in front of a residence in Kamakis, Ruiru, Kiambu.

They are Morris Njuguna Mwangi, age 28, and Francis Chege, his cousin.

The arrest occurred on Friday.

Njuguna is the boyfriend of the 27-year-old Risper Ndunge Vaati.

According to the police, Njuguna admitted to killing Ndunge.

Chege was arrested in Makuyu after his possession of Ndunge’s mobile phone was discovered.

Njuguna led the police to the store where he purchased the sack in which he placed the woman’s body before dumping it approximately 500 meters from where they were staying.

He stated that he purchased the sack for Sh150.

According to police, he and his cousin are expected to appear in court to face murder-related charges.

Before formally charging him with murder, the police will ask the court for more time to take him to the hospital for psychiatric evaluations and conduct other tests.

The police have yet to determine whether Njuguna and Chege participated in Ndunge’s murder.

The murder occurred on Monday, April 17, and the man stayed in the house with the body, placing it in a suitcase and then a sack, before leaving it at the scene, where it was discovered by neighbors.

Njuguna also informed the officers that the deceased was a cashier at a hotel in Kamakis, where the suspect worked as a chef.

He told officers that the suspect struck the victim in the head and killed her instantly during a domestic dispute.

When he realized she had passed away, he decided to dispose of her body.

The suspect then placed the deceased’s body in a house-held suitcase.

The suspect also led the officers to the Mukuyu neighborhood in Muranga, where they recovered the deceased’s mobile phone from his cousin.

Friday marked the recovery of the mobile phone as evidence.

The head of the DCI in Ruiru, Justus Ombati, described the development as a breakthrough in the murder investigation.

The incident was discovered by residents who observed the suitcase at the residence’s entrance.

The police were called to the scene and informed of the discovery before transporting the body to the morgue.

As they processed the crime scene, the police requested a bed sheet from one of the occupants to cover the severely disfigured body.

Upon inspection, they discovered that the woman had a head wound and was partially naked.
