Chebukati, Aukot Clash: Kenyan Online Drama on 2022 Polls
Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Wafula Chebukati clashed with former presidential candidate Ekuru Aukot over the 2022 elections on Thursday in the Kenyan online community.
Chebukati and Aukot exchanged words after the former IEBC Chairperson shared a video depicting the systems used in the 2022 general elections and then maintained that the election process was equitable.
Chebukati reminded Kenyans that 99 percent of election results were posted on the tabulation portal just hours after polling stations closed in support of his argument.
“In August 2022, Kenya held the most credible, free, and fair election in its history.” Chebukati stated, “I recently presented a paper titled The Role of Technology in Enhancing the Electoral Process Integrity in Kenya.”
However, his views did not settle well with Aukot, who chastised him and accused him of bungling the process of nominating candidates for various parties.

Chebukati, according to the leader of the Thirdway Alliance Party, will go down in history as the worst election manager in the country.
“You’re a fraud. The selection procedure was orchestrated. You could not comprehend fundamental constitutional provisions. The former presidential candidate responded, “You were biased toward the majority of candidates.”
Former IEBC chairman Aukot’s statement did not settle well with him, so he fired back.
“You did not meet the requirements to run for president in 2022,” the former head of the IEBC stated categorically.
Aukot was disqualified from the 2022 elections for failing to provide the requisite number of signatures and copies of identification cards.
Notably, the dispute between the two also attracted the attention of other Kenyans, who weighed in with their opinions.
The Kenyans who defended Chebukati cited instances in which the diplomatic community lauded Kenya and the IEBC for their oversight of the elections in which President William Ruto defeated his archrival, Raila Odinga.
