In Bomet, law enforcement officials have apprehended seven individuals linked to a harrowing gang rape episode that was recorded and circulated across social media platforms.

As per Robinson Ndiwa, the County Police Commander of Bomet, the authorities successfully located the seven suspects who had been hiding in the Olbutyo vicinity within the Chepalungu sub-county. Presently, they are undergoing interrogation at Chebunyo police station and are slated for court proceedings.

Ndiwa disclosed that among the apprehended individuals, two have been positively identified: Anderson Mutai, aged 38, and Weldon Sigei, aged 21. These two are purportedly involved in the abhorrent assault.

Furthermore, the county’s top police official mentioned that the video recording dates back to last year but was disseminated recently across social media platforms. However, the identity and whereabouts of the victim remain unknown.

The officer emphasized that the incident was not reported to the authorities initially, but they are diligently pursuing the case. He underscored the legal prohibition against the distribution or exhibition of such reprehensible content.

Additionally, Edwin Barusei, the local chief, asserted that the principal suspect, Anderson Mutai, was the one responsible for hosting the recorded footage.
