Caught on Camera: Shocking Nairobi Street Shooting Incident
During recent protests in Nairobi, a man was shot, an event captured by a CCTV camera on a city street during clashes between protesters and police.
These protests, organized by Gen Z, aimed to pressure the government into taking responsibility for deaths since the Occupy Parliament protests began on June 18.
According to the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, the toll from the civil disobedience, initially triggered by unpopular taxes, includes 50 deaths and 413 injuries as of Tuesday, whereas government reports cite 25 deaths.
During Tuesday’s demonstrations, several new shootings were reported across the country, including three in Nakuru, where a journalist was among those injured. One fatality was reported in Kitengela and two in Makueni, with at least five other protesters sustaining gunshot wounds.

In Nairobi, shops remained shuttered as police deployed tear gas to disperse hundreds of protesters.
A CCTV camera recorded a specific incident during these events, showing people fleeing for safety as a police vehicle sped down a street.
The timestamp on the CCTV indicates the incident occurred precisely at noon. The footage shows a man, running with two others, suddenly falling while the others vanished from the camera’s view.
The man lay on the ground, clutching his face, then shifted position and rolled onto his back.
He remained on the ground for nearly thirty seconds before a bystander appeared, seemingly signaling for assistance. Another passerby took a photo of the victim and moved on.
The initial bystander continued to call for help, and gradually, more people gathered at the scene until a crowd had formed.
Eventually, four men arrived and carried the injured man out of the CCTV frame.
