Bunge la Wananchi President Gaucho Hospitalized Following Alleged Attack

Calvin Okoth a.k.a. Gaucho, president of Bunge la Wananchi, was admitted to the hospital after allegedly being attacked.

Gaucho announced on his Facebook page that he had been attacked on his way to Raila’s Kamukunji rally on Tuesday.

“Yesterday, on my way to the Kamukunji rally, I was attacked by an unknown group of armed men, but thank God I was able to escape with severe injuries. “I am currently receiving treatment in the hospital,” he stated.

Kenyans felt compassion for him and wished him a speedy recovery.
On Tuesday, Raila Odinga, the leader of the Azimio party, led a consultation at Kamukunji.

Leaders and supporters of Azimio packed the event where he announced his next steps.

Gaucho recently decried the coalition of Azimio’s unfair treatment after he was arrested and claimed that no one bothered to bail him out.
He stated that if the talks do not materialize and protests are recalled, he may not participate.

He stated that the inequitable treatment had deeply troubled him, thereby conveying the message to the principals of Azimio.

“I truly pray to God that the bipartisan talks succeed. Because if they fail and there is another call for demos, I will simply wish the Azimio team continued success,” said Gaucho.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations had arrested Gaucho for causing a disturbance.

He was subsequently indicted by the Kiambu Law Courts and released on Sh5,000 cash bail.

“Calvin Okoth Otieno alias “Gaucho” was arraigned before the law courts of Kiambu on charges of disturbing the peace in violation of section 95 (1)(b) of the penal code. “The suspect was released on an Sh20,000 bond or a Sh5,000 cash bail,” the DCI explained.
