Bruce Willis Faces Untreatable Illness After Aphasia Diagnosis
The family of BRUCE Willis has provided an update on his health following his “cruel” diagnosis of aphasia.
The actor’s daughter Rumer, whom he shares with his ex-wife Demi Moore, announced the tragic news on Instagram along with her mother and sisters Tallulah and Scout.
The Thursday post explained that Bruce’s condition was unfortunately “not treatable” and “has progressed.”
It states: “Since sharing Bruce’s initial diagnosis, our family has received an outpouring of love, support, and wonderful stories for which we are extremely grateful.

“In that spirit, we wanted to update you on our cherished husband, father, and friend, as we now have a better understanding of what he is going through.”
The statement went on to describe the “painful” disease that the star of Pulp Fiction is suffering from.
“Since we announced Bruce’s aphasia diagnosis in the spring of 2022, his condition has worsened, and we now have a more accurate diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD).
“Unfortunately, communication difficulties are only one symptom of Bruce’s illness. Despite the discomfort, it is a relief to finally have a definitive diagnosis.
“VILE DISEASE”
On The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration’s website, the family’s statement elaborated on the disease’s devastating effects.
It states: “FTD is a devastating disease that many of us have never heard of and that can affect anyone. FTD is the most prevalent form of dementia in people under 60, and because the diagnosis can take years, it is likely much more prevalent than we realize.
“There are currently no treatments for the disease, a situation we hope will change in the coming years. As Bruce’s condition worsens, we hope that any media coverage will be devoted to shedding light on this disease, which requires significantly more awareness and research.
“Bruce has always believed in the importance of using his voice to help others and raise public and private awareness about important issues. We know in our hearts that, if he were alive today, he would want to respond by bringing global attention to those who are also dealing with this debilitating disease and how it affects so many individuals and families.”

The message continued: “Ours is just one of the many families with a loved one suffering from FTD, and we encourage others to seek out the wealth of information and support offered by AFTD (@theaftd, theaftd.org).
“And for those who have been fortunate enough to have no personal experience with FTD, we hope you will take the time to learn about it and support AFTD’s mission in any way you can.
“Bruce has always found happiness in life, and he has encouraged those he knows to do the same. It has meant the world to him and to all of us to hear this sentiment echoed back to us. During this difficult time, your love for our dear husband, father, and friend has left us deeply moved.
The family concluded, “Your continued compassion, understanding, and respect will enable us to help Bruce live as full a life as possible.”
SCARY DIAGNOSIS
Bruce’s family announced in March 2022 that he would be taking a break from acting due to his diagnosis.
Additionally, Rumer posted the news about her 67-year-old father on Instagram.
Alongside a throwback photo of the father-daughter duo, Rumer wrote: “To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family, we wanted to let you know that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is affecting his cognitive abilities.”
Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him as a result of this and after careful consideration.
She continued, “This is a very difficult time for our family, and we are so grateful for your continued love, compassion, and assistance.”

“We are navigating this as a strong family unit, and we wanted to include his fans because we know how much he means to you as much as he does to you.”
“As Bruce always says, ‘Live it up,’ we intend to do exactly that.”
His five daughters, Rumer, Scout, 31, Tallulah, 29, Mabel, 10, and Evelyn, 8, along with his wife Emma Heming Willis, 44, and his ex-wife Demi, 60, signed the post.
On their Instagram accounts, Scout, Tallulah, Emma, and Demi all reposted Rumer’s statement.
Following the outpouring of support, Jamie Lee Curtis, Marlene King, and Debi Mazar all expressed their gratitude.
