Bipartisan Talks Stalled Over Keynan’s Inclusion in Kenya Kwanza Team.

The Azimio la Umoja coalition has declined an invitation to attend a meeting to discuss ways in which the government and the opposition can work together to resolve the issues that are causing contention.

The Tharaka Member of Parliament George Murugara, who is also the team lead for Kenya Kwanza in the bipartisan committee, wrote a letter to the Azimio Member of Parliament Otiende Omollo on April 28 inviting him to a meeting of the co-chairpersons and House leadership.

According to the statement made by Murugara, the agenda for the meeting was to “discuss the modalities of recommencing the bipartisan talks which had been adjourned.”

In rebuttal, Omollo maintained that the Azimio team shall not avail themselves in the aforementioned meeting until Eldas MP Adan Keynan (of Jubilee) is removed from the team representing Kenya Kwanza in the talks.

This was in response to the fact that Omollo had stated that the Azimio team shall not avail themselves in the meeting.

In the letter, he stated, “I advise that I shall not be available for the proposed meeting.” “I advise that I shall not be available for the proposed meeting.”

“Our team is not available for any discussions until and unless there is the communication. Of the withdrawal and/or replacement of Hon. Adan Keynan as a member of the Kenya Kwanza team.”

Azimio has been challenging the appointment of MP Keynan to Kenya Kwanza’s seven-member delegation. He maintains that he is a member of their camp, given that he is a Jubilee party member.

Kenya Kwanza, on the other hand, has insisted that they are willing to hold the talks. And has urged Azimio to rethink their stance to make room for peaceful agreements.
