Betrayal, Deceit & Political Drama: Gachagua Exposes Ruto’s Scheme to Finish Raila
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused President William Ruto of intentionally misleading opposition leader Raila Odinga to gain an advantage in politics.ย ย
Speaking during the launch of Martha Karuaโs Peopleโs Liberation Party in Nairobi, Gachagua alleged that Ruto once told him about a plan to keep Odinga busy in political games, preventing him from successfully running for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship.
Gachagua warned Odinga to be cautious, saying that his recent cooperation with the Kenya Kwanza government might not benefit him politically.
“On the day he declared his bid for the AUC job, I asked Ruto what he intended to do about it. He assured me not to worry, saying he would โfixโ Odinga, keep him distracted, and eventually take over ODM,” Gachagua claimed.
“I see it happening now. So, Mr. Tinga (Raila Odinga), if you are listening, we are people with experience, and we are giving you a small tipโwalk away from him,” he added.
Gachagua explained that because he was once close to Ruto, he understands his political strategies well. He recalled that when Ruto used to visit his home, his wife, Pastor Dorcas, became suspicious of him and often questioned his true intentions.

“He used to visit us and stay late into the night. After he left, my wife would ask if I really knew him well,” Gachagua said.
“I would brush it off, but my wife insisted that he was not to be trusted. We will tell Kenyans who he really is so they can judge for themselves,” he added.
However, we could not verify the accuracy of Gachaguaโs claims.ย ย
In recent weeks, Gachagua seems to be trying to win over Odinga to join him in challenging the government.
Meanwhile, Odinga has remained quiet on the matter. The only time he was seen this week was at State House Mombasa, where he stated that he would make a political announcement after consultations.
At the same time, Odinga denied allegations that the government spent Ksh13 billion on his campaign for the AUC position.
“I have heard people talking about Ksh13 billion spent on my campaign. I don’t know what world they live in or if they even understand what a billion means,” he responded.ย
