Babu Owino Urges University Students to Skip Exams and Join Anti-Finance Bill 2024 Protests
Embakasi East Member of Parliament, Babu Owino, has called upon university students to mobilize and participate in large numbers in the protests against the Finance Bill 2024.
The legislator has suggested that students should prioritize these demonstrations over their academic exams.
In a recent statement posted on his social media platforms, Babu Owino, who is known for his youthful and dynamic approach, has advised university students to forego their Continuous Assessment Tests (CATS) and final examinations to take part in the Gen Z demonstrations.
He argues that the protests hold more immediate significance compared to the exams.
Babu Owino emphasized that while exams are undeniably important, they do not carry the same urgency as the protests against the controversial finance bill.
He stated, “No student should sit for CATS/EXAMS tomorrow in any college or university in Kenya. Comrades must come out in numbers and defend their future. Those exams are important but not urgent.”
His call to action is aimed at galvanizing the youth to stand up against what he sees as a detrimental piece of legislation.

In addition to his appeal to the students, Babu Owino has also expressed his commitment to supporting the Generation Z protests against the Finance Bill 2024, which are planned for Tuesday, June 25.
He has pledged to facilitate access for the demonstrators to the parliamentary grounds and has even extended an invitation for them to join him for tea at the National Assembly.
This move by Babu Owino is part of a broader strategy to unite various segments of the population against the Finance Bill.
The protests have gained traction among different groups, including religious leaders, who have shown a keen interest in participating.
