Azimio MCA Robert Alai Faces Potential Disciplinary Action for Attending Deputy President’s Meeting
Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly, Robert Alai, may face disciplinary measures from the Azimio One Coalition due to his participation in a meeting organized by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
In a letter viewed by Gossipa2z.com, Alai was asked to explain why he should not be disciplined for reportedly disobeying the party’s directive to avoid the meeting.
Moses Ogeto, the Majority Chief Whip of the Nairobi County Assembly, stated that Alai disregarded orders given to Azimio members on April 22.
Ogeto added that Alai’s presence at the meeting went against Azimio’s policies and signaled support for the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
Additionally, the Chief Whip said Alai openly backed Kenya Kwanza’s directives in public, which did not sit well with the opposing Azimio Coalition.
“Your inappropriate involvement and evident support for our rival coalition, Kenya Kwanza, as shown in your speech during the meeting, is considered severe misconduct against the Leadership of the House and the leadership of AZIMIO ONE KENYA COALITION in general,” Ogeto remarked.

Nevertheless, Alai defended his attendance, stating that he participated in the meeting to serve the electorate, as it focused on matters of interest to Nairobi residents.
Alai argued that the opposition’s absence from such meetings could lead to negative consequences for Nairobi residents, as key policies were discussed in these forums.
“How can we prevent negative outcomes for our constituents if we are kept from participating in important discussions? Recent events impacting the residents of Mathare, Embakasi, and Langata are the result of policies made without input,” Alai said.
Moreover, Alai countered that avoiding such invitations would fail the Nairobi residents who elected Azimio leaders.
“By excluding Azimio One Kenya Coalition Party leaders from policy discussions, are we not failing those who rely on us to protect their interests?”
The meeting in question took place on April 24 at Gachagua’s Karen residence, focusing on implementing the Nairobi River’s Action Plan.
