“Azimio is Shaky and I Think After Yesterday, It’s Done”- Martha Karua
Azimio co-principal Martha Karua has claimed that the coalition is on the brink of collapse following the appointment of some ODM members to the cabinet on Wednesday, July 24.
In an interview on Thursday, July 25, Karua emphasized that the coalition has been experiencing internal discord ever since the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) started its discussions.
The Narc Kenya party leader stated that Azimio had initially agreed at the start of the year that each party should focus on its development.
“Azimio is shaky and I think after yesterday, it’s done. I’m saying shaky because, since the NADCO talks, we’ve been pulling in different directions. The only thing that has saved us is that we said at the beginning of this year, to let every party go and build itself. So I’ve been busy with Narc-Kenya and not busy with Azimio,” Karua remarked.

Karua mentioned that certain coalition members are scheduled to have a meeting next Monday and will provide a statement afterward.
Regarding President William Ruto’s appointment of four ODM members to the cabinet, the Narc Kenya leader expressed that she was not taken aback by this move.
“I was not surprised because of Ruto’s modus operandi, his way of working, he is everything. He is a jack of all trades. I am sure that he can appoint the CSs, but he will be the one running the ministries. It is a one-man show,” Karua stated.
On Wednesday, President Ruto put forward John Mbadi, Hassan Joho, Wycliffe Oparanya, and Opiyo Wandayi for cabinet positions, all affiliated with Azimio.
Narc Kenya, a member of the Azimio coalition, is led by Karua, who served as the coalition’s vice-presidential candidate in the 2022 general elections.
