    Azimio Accused of Spending Sh250M on Demos – Mohamed Ali

    Mohamed Ali, a member of the Nyali legislature, asserts that the Opposition-Azimio coalition spent Sh250 million to organize the recent anti-government demonstrations.

    Saturday at Miritini in Mombasa, Ali stated that it was disappointing that, after spending so much, Azimio leaders donated only Sh5 million to those injured or murdered during the demonstrations on Friday.

    “We will not support your resolution because, Your Excellency, the former President, former Prime Minister, and former Vice President each contributed Sh5 million.” They spent Sh250 million organizing the protests, he said.

    There have been assertions that Uhuru has funded Raila’s anti-government demonstrations.

    However, on July 24, the fourth President stated that he was startled by allegations that he finances the demos.

    “I am perplexed by allegations that I finance Azimo protests. “For what advantage?” Uhuru assumed a posture.

    Given Azimio’s track record as an investigative journalist, the lawmaker informed the president that he knows that was the amount spent on organizing the protests.

    President William Ruto was the honored guest at the inauguration of the Toyota Fortuner local assembly line in Miritini, Mombasa County, where Ali spoke.

    “Bado mimi ni jicho pevu, hiyo ndio pesa walitumia to create chaos in Nairobi and other parts of our wonderful nation. Today, you are dancing on the graves of our children, and we will not tolerate that,” the lawmaker stated.

    On Tuesday, Azimio canceled their mass protests scheduled for Wednesday and instead announced that they would conduct vigils and lay flowers in honor of victims of police brutality.

    On Friday, during an interdenominational requiem mass for victims at the SKM center in Nairobi, the leaders donated over Sh4 million for the victims who were injured during the protests and for the heirs of those who perished.

    Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka said, “I would like to express my gratitude for the contributions of our brothers Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, each of whom gave one million shillings, and I am accompanying them with 500,000 shillings.”

    Opiyo Wandayi, the minority leader of the National Assembly, stated that members of parliament had donated 1.5 million shillings to the victims, while former Defense CS Eugene Wamalwa pledged 200,000 shillings to the Citizen Emergency Fund.
