Aside from football! Tom Clare has been granted permission to appear on the Love Island series by Macclesfield.

Tom Clare from Macclesfield will travel to South Africa to film the latest season of Love Island, which will air until March 2023.

Macclesfield confirmed the news via their social media handle, which means the 23-year-old will be away for a few weeks to appear on the singles show.

“Macclesfield Town can confirm that Tom Clare has been granted an extended period of leave to appear in this year’s Love Island competition.

“Tom approached us with the request a few weeks ago, and we were happy to show the same loyalty that he has shown to us since becoming one of our first-ever signings back in 2021,” according to a portion of the statement.

Tom is a prolific striker who Macclesfield desperately needs right now as they battle relegation, and the club is disappointed to lose him at this late stage of the season.

“Despite our disappointment at losing a player of Tom’s caliber for the foreseeable future, we recognize the tremendous opportunity that this represents for both him and his family on a personal level.

“Tom is still very much a part of our plans here at the Leasing.com Stadium, and he has expressed a strong desire to return to the club following the show. We wish Tom the best of luck and look forward to welcoming him back to the club shortly “the statement came to an end.

Clare joked that Macclesfield’s director of football, Robbie Savage, refers to him as “Mr. Love Island” and refuses to admit he is a player.
