Annie Wersching, ’24’ Star, Dies at 45

Actress Annie Wersching died of cancer early Sunday morning, according to her publicist, Craig Schneider. Wersching was 45 years old at the time.

She was best known for her role as FBI agent Renee Walker in the television series “24.”

Wersching’s husband, Stephen Full, issued the following statement to CNN:

“Today, there is a gaping hole in this family’s soul. But she did leave us the means to fill it. She found wonder in the most mundane of circumstances. She did not need music to dance. She taught us that you should not wait for the adventure to find you. ‘Go look for it. It’s all over the place.’ “And we will find it,” he wrote.

Wersching also provided Tess’s voice in “The Last of Us” video game. The creative director of the new HBO Max series “The Last of Us,” based on the game, Neil Druckmann, tweeted about Wesching’s death:

“I just found out that my dear friend Annie Wersching died. We recently lost a wonderful artist and human being. My heart is broken. “Our thoughts are with her family.”

(Both CNN and HBO Max are owned by the same company, Warner Bros. Discovery.)

“Handmaid’s Tale” actress Ever Carradine established a GoFundMe page in support of Annie’s children and husband “so they can continue to live life in a way that they know would make Annie proud.”

Wersching was a regular on television dramas throughout the 2000s and into the 2010s. She portrayed Amelia Joffe on the long-running ABC soap “General Hospital” in 2007. Her breakthrough role was as FBI agent Renee Walker on the hit Fox show “24,” where she co-starred with Kiefer Sutherland for the seventh and eighth seasons.

Wersching’s other notable TV credits include her role as Harry Bosch’s (Titus Welliver) love interest on Amazon Prime’s 2014 series “Bosch,” as well as a recurring role as the villainous vampire Lily Salvatore on The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries.”

Wersching, who played the Borg Queen in “Star Trek Picard” in 2022, frequently shared photos of herself from the set in full costume, along with messages of thanks to the makeup and prosthetics artists who transformed her into the intergalactic villain. Wersching’s role in “Star Trek Picard,” which airs on Paramount+, is one of the actress’s most recent professional credits, according to IMDb.

On Sunday, Wersching’s husband ended his statement with a touching memory.

“As I drove our boys, her true loves, down the winding driveway and street, she would yell BYE! until we were out of earshot and into the world. It’s still ringing in my ears. Goodbye, Buddy. ‘I adore you, little familyโ€ฆ’
