Angry Deputy President Gachagua Criticizes Ruto Allies for Undermining Him in Mt. Kenya

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has openly criticized a faction of Rift Valley leaders, accusing them of undermining his influence in the Mt. Kenya region.

While in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, accompanied by several Cabinet Secretaries and Members of Parliament, Gachagua accused these leaders, who are close to the President, of exploiting their proximity to engage in early succession politics in his region.

A frustrated Gachagua revealed that President William Ruto’s supporters are already holding meetings in the Mt. Kenya region, planning the 2032 succession to his detriment.

โ€œThe problem is a few leaders here from this region who are close to the President are stirring up politics in our area, misleading people to start planning for 2032,โ€ he stated.

This disclosure came after Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen, at the same event, advised the Deputy President to ignore succession politics and concentrate on his duties.

โ€œUsiogope kupigiwa kelele, ukiona watu wanapigania kiti yako ni kwa sababu ni tamu na kila mtu ako na haja nayo. Kama ingekuwa kiti bure hakuna mtu angekuletea keleleโ€ฆwatu wengi wanataka kuitwa tu Your Excellency;  wewe usiogope, focus,โ€ Murkomen said.

Gachagua noted that President Ruto’s allies working against him have become arrogant and warned them to remember the Mt. Kenya region’s support for Ruto’s presidential bid.

โ€œThe few people here wamefura wamekuwa na kiburi nyingi, wanafikiria ati sasa wamefika wanaweza kuja huko eti wapange viongozi wa mlima, ata sisi hatutakuja kuwapangia siasa yenu, lazima tuheshimiane,โ€ he added.

The Deputy President also advised the unnamed Rift Valley leaders to stay out of Central region politics, emphasizing that the country shouldn’t engage in early politicking.

โ€œMsijaribu kutupangia siasa ya mlima Kenya na uongozi wa mlima Kenya. Pangeni siasa zenu na uongozi wenu. Siku William Ruto atastaafu after 10 years, hatutaingililia vile mnataka kupanga, mtajipangia wenyewe. Siasa ya huko kwetu hamuwezani nayo, ni ngumu sana,โ€ Gachagua noted.

Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, and MPs led by Musa Sirma of Eldama Ravine and Johana Ng’eno of Emurua Dikir assured Gachagua of their support despite any criticism.

For the support we gave Ruto, tupatieni heshima kidogo,โ€ added the DP.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was breathing fire today in President William Ruto's bedroom in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County. That was a very big mistake. This toxic won't last for long. Ruto will pick Mudavadi or Ndindi Nyoro as his running mate in 2027. pic.twitter.com/2wU0gWVsxr
