Angolan President a No-Show at Ruto’s Mashujaa Day Event in Kericho

President William Ruto invited President Joo Lourenco of Angola to attend the 60th Mashujaa Day Celebrations as the principal guest, but he did not attend.

The Angolan Foreign Minister Tete Antรณnio explained at the Kericho Green Stadium that the President could not attend the event due to unforeseen circumstances.

The diplomat revealed that Lourenco intended to attend the occasion.

The precise reasons why Lourenco was unable to attend the State function held in Kericho were not immediately apparent.

Musalia Mudavadi, the Prime Cabinet Secretary, greeted the first couple at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

This is the first time in recent history that a state principal guest has missed a function despite having arrived in the country the day before.

Ruto, for his part, confirmed that the visiting President was in the country and would begin his official visit and meeting with the government on Saturday, October 21.

“He will be having his state visit tomorrow,” the President announced.

According to Mudavadi, who is also the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Lourenco was scheduled to conclude his visit on October 20 after bilateral discussions with Ruto.

Unknown at this time is whether the visiting President will extend his visit by an additional day.
