Alarm Over Naivasha Church Where Children Are Denied Medication, Buried In Church Compound

In the past year, inhabitants of Maella in Naivasha have expressed concern about the passing of more than five young children associated with a contentious group within the community.

The locals are urging an inquiry into the Church of God and the arrest of its leaders due to their negligence in taking minors to the hospital, resulting in fatalities.

The police, along with members of the public, intervened to save four unwell children and apprehended their parents for neglect.

Presently, the religious leader has departed the region amidst revelations that certain deceased minors were interred within the church premises under ambiguous circumstances.

Gilbert Njuguna, an elder in the community, whose spouse is affiliated with the church, mentioned that during his absence, one of his offspring passed away and was interred within a single day.

Njuguna, a Community Health Promoter, states that individuals within the church hold religious beliefs that discourage them from embracing medication.

He had a falling out with his wife after she became a member of the church, and he desires to have it scrutinized and potentially shut down.

One of his offspring passed away and was laid to rest within the church premises, while the congregation remained at the church from Friday until Sunday, engaged in undisclosed activities.

Bernard Kamau, another resident, mentioned that the sect’s members were gradually increasing, resulting in increased suffering for numerous children.

Ann Njeri, a follower of the sect, committed to sticking to their beliefs, emphasizing that their healing and remedies were reliant on heaven rather than earthly treatments or medications.

Njeri, feeling emotional, acknowledged the passing of one of her children, who was laid to rest in the church compound, describing this as a regular part of their everyday existence.

Area Assistant Chief Mary Njeri verified the apprehension of the parents and the presence of the church, mentioning that she had notified her superiors about the situation.

MP Stephen Muthua, the representative of the region, revisited the events in Shakahola, Kilifi, emphasizing the need for an investigation into the Maella matter to prevent further loss of lives.
