‘Aki and Paw Paw’ Nollywood Legend Dies Days After Begging for Help with Kidney Transplant
Renowned Nollywood actor Amaechi Muonagor has passed away, as confirmed by his cousin Tony Muonagor, also known as Tony Oneweek, in an interview with BBC News Pidgin.
Muonagor, aged 62, succumbed to complications arising from kidney ailments, diabetes, and a previous stroke.
His health had been in decline since 2023 when he suffered a stroke that resulted in partial paralysis of his left leg.
The demise of the veteran actor follows his recent plea for financial assistance on social media to fund a crucial kidney transplant.

This tragic news emerges amidst a period of collective mourning in Nigeria, following the recent loss of another Nollywood luminary, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, who also battled health challenges and sought medical intervention before his demise.
A stalwart of Nigerian comedy cinema, Muonagor endeared himself to audiences with his memorable performances, notably in films like “Aki and Paw Paw,” where he portrayed the quintessential patriarch to two mischievous, high-spirited adolescents.
