UDA Gains China’s Backing for Unbeatable Pursuit
On Thursday, the Chinese government promised its backing to President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party to ensure the preservation of his legacy.
The Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, Zhou Pingjian, restated that China has provided training for Kenya just like it has done in other countries throughout Africa and the rest of the world.
“China and Kenya have enjoyed a strategic partnership for 60 years. We have confidence in the leadership of President William Ruto,” Zhou Pingjian stated.
“We see a lot of potential for further cooperation. We are ready to facilitate party-to-party exchanges,” he added.
The UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua were met by the ambassador at Karen.
During his speech to the representatives, Gachagua expressed his concern about the frequent demise of political parties in Kenya after the General Election. However, he highlighted that UDA’s goal was to endure for a century, akin to the longevity of China’s Communist Party.
“The United Democratic Alliance is the younger brother of CPC, but it is the party of the future. We want to develop it like CPC. Work with us in creating structures and building the capacity of our staff,” the DP remarked.

“It cannot be a party for elections only. We must make UDA stay around for 100 years. Our Ideology is Bottom-up Economic Transformation. Training some of our staff will enable them to come back and transfer the knowledge to others,” Gachagua added.
The deputy leader highlighted that political parties founded on strong ideologies play a role in maintaining a country’s socioeconomic stability.
In addition to maintaining the sustenance of UDA, the two leaders talked about prospects for trade and investment that could generate employment opportunities for young people.
Gachagua collaborated with Fu Hua, the President of China’s Xinhua News Agency, to explore solutions for revitalizing KBC.
“We want to reboot KBC into a vibrant and objective agency in informing the people of Kenya,” the DP stated.
Hua underscored Xinhua’s preparedness to collaborate with the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation in incorporating fresh technology and inventive approaches into compelling narrative creation.
