Ruto’s Pledge: Priceless Support for Youth Opportunities
President William Ruto reaffirmed on Sunday that he is willing to go to any lengths to achieve his objective of providing employment opportunities for Kenya’s youth.
Ruto stated during a church service at the Faith Evangelical Ministries (FEM) in Karen, Nairobi, that his government has taken deliberate steps, beginning with the Housing plan, to provide employment opportunities for the youth.
“I am willing to pay any price for a strategy to create opportunities for Kenya’s youth,” he said.
“Many individuals questioned, ‘Why are you pushing this housing agenda?'” Who informed you that we require a home? Everyone has a home, so what is this? It was more about the employment for Kenya’s young people than it was about the houses.”
He went on to say that the government will exhaust all employment sectors to stem the nation’s soaring unemployment rate.
“We have never had a comprehensive, deliberate, and intentional program to create income opportunities for young people in Kenya,” he said.
“I am pleased that this time around we not only have a plan, but also clear interventions, funding, and the ability to create jobs and export labor through the housing plan in the digital space.”
Similarly, the Head of State stated that his administration intends to promote the education sector by providing free school meals to children from low-income families.
“This year, we will use our taxes to ensure that children who would otherwise be unable to attend school due to hunger can attend and receive a meal,” he said.
“We have agreed with the (Nairobi) governor to feed 250,000 children in the city of Nairobi, particularly those living in informal settlements,”
Ruto pleaded with the faithful to intercede for his government’s efforts to achieve its goals with diligence.
Please pray for us so that we can be faithful, keep our commitments, maintain our focus, and prevent anyone from stealing our nation’s future.
