Kenyan Driving License Valid in Mozambique: Ruto’s Deal

On Saturday, August 12, President William Ruto revealed that individuals possessing a Kenyan Driving Licence are now permitted to drive without constraints in Mozambique. This was made possible through an agreement reached with President Filipe Nyusi.

During his speech in Mozambique, Ruto suggested that the agreement was reciprocal, and the same arrangement would also apply to individuals in Kenya who hold licenses from Mozambique.

The leaders of the two nations anticipate that the agreement will enhance trade and tourism in both their respective countries.

“It is now the responsibility of the ambassador to ensure that the deals become a reality because we have negotiated and agreed.

“I want to persuade the business people here to look beyond our two countries and explore opportunities in the continent,” he stated.

The recent agreement assists Kenyan individuals who want to journey to the neighboring country of South Africa for purposes such as road adventures, sightseeing, and employment.

Ruto also revealed that they reached a consensus to eliminate additional obstacles to achieving the African continental free trade area, a goal championed by the African Union (AU).

“There is no longer just a Mozambican or Kenyan market because countries are now integrated with the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (Comesa),” Ruto added.

President Nyusi, in his role, urged additional Kenyan investors to come to the nation and take advantage of prospects in fields such as agro-processing and horticulture.

Nyusi mentioned that they were also enhancing their infrastructure to appeal to a larger number of investors interested in the country.

Ruto journeyed to Moputo on August 10th and is anticipated to return to the nation later today. The President was accompanied by Defense CS Aden Duale and Attorney General Justin Muturi.

The trip centered on enhancing trade connections, encompassing subjects like the blue economy and fishing, commerce, military, farming, energy, and transportation.
