Wife of Hindi MCA Njagaa Feared Killed in Suspected Al Shabaab Attack
The wife of Hindi Member of County Assembly (MCA) Kariuki Njagaa was reported deceased after an Al Shabaab attack on Tuesday morning, August 1.
According to reports, the tragic incident occurred in the Nyongoro region of Lamu County as the MCA and his family were traveling in a vehicle that came under a suspected Al Shabaab attack.
Following the assault, several family members of the MCA were injured. At the time this article was published, the details of the attack and the condition of the injured were still under investigation.
Al-Shabab al-Mujhideen Terrorists attacked three civilian vehicles with RPGs and assault rifles, including one belonging to the Hindi area MCA, according to a report from Counter Terrorism & Security Intelligence.
During the attack, the MCA was shot in the leg, and his wife was shot in the cranium, according to reports. The perpetrators targeted their vehicle, which was among several others that the group attacked.
As the assault was being staged, the occupants of the various vehicles in the convoy sought refuge in the nearby brush until the arrival of security personnel.
The injured were taken to Witu Level 4 Hospital, while the deceased was transported to the morgue.

In response to the incident, the Special Operations Group and forest rangers swiftly mobilized to combat the terrorist organization.
Police officers simultaneously launched a manhunt for the suspects who had fled the scene.
Multiple vehicles on the route were required to stop at the site while the police gathered vital evidence.
Muslims for Human Rights International (MUHURI) condemned the attack and demanded an immediate response and investigation to apprehend the perpetrators.
“We condemn vehemently this cowardly act of violence and extend our sincerest condolences to the victims and their families. Such heinous crimes against innocent civilians undermine not only the principles of peace and unification but also the very fabric of our society,”
“MUHURI demands a prompt and exhaustive investigation to identify and prosecute those responsible for this attack. We strongly urge law enforcement agencies to act swiftly and bring the perpetrators to justice. It is essential to emphasize the significance of security and ensure that every citizen feels safe and protected, according to a statement dated August 1st.
