Son’s Tragic Outburst: Father Killed, Mother Injured Over Denied Boda Boda Funds

Bomet County law enforcement have taken into custody a 30-year-old man on suspicion of killing his father and injuring his mother in retaliation for their refusal to give him the money he needed to purchase a motorcycle.

After his father, who was 55 years old at the time, attempted to save his mother at their home in Cheptagum, which is located in the Sotik sub-county, it is believed that the suspect, Victor Langat, used a piece of wood to kill his father and then hit his mother with it.

According to Assistant Chief Wesley Langat of the Baleek sub-location, the suspect had demanded a portion of the money earned by his parents from the sale of a piece of land so that he could use it to buy a motorcycle for his use.

After receiving a negative response to his demand from his parents, Langat became agitated, grabbed a piece of wood, and hit his mother with it.

She was able to get away from the situation despite the excruciating pain she was in, but when his father tried to help, he was fatally injured by the same piece of wood and passed away on the spot.

As soon as they heard the commotion, the neighbors rushed over to the location and restrained the offender before handing him over to the authorities.

The Sotik Police Station is currently holding him for questioning.

The chief of police claims that the suspect is addicted to drugs and has a history of multiple criminal cases.

In the meantime, the remains of the deceased person have been transferred to the mortuary at Kapkatet Hospital.
