President Ruto Launches Easier Wedding Registration on eCitizen, Sends Couple to Diani for Honeymoon

President William Ruto flew the first couple to register their marriage on the redesigned eCitizen platform. To Diani for their honeymoon on Friday, June 30.

Ruto announced during his speech at the KICC wedding. That Nicholas and Judith would receive a limousine ride from the airport to their all-inclusive honeymoon at a coastal resort.

The Head of State explained that the couple was chosen to celebrate their wedding at the event to demonstrate how government services would become more user-friendly and efficient on the digitized platform.

“Congratulations on your recent nuptials. I am thrilled to be attending your wedding. I instructed the ministry to randomly select Kenyans who were planning to get married today.

“After they booked the venue on the platform, I requested the registrar to hold the wedding here. I have reserved four nights for the two of you in Diani. We will arrange for a limousine to transport you to your hotel. My best wishes for your wedding,” he said.

Ruto and other government officials, including Cabinet Secretaries, presented the couple with wedding gifts after extending their congratulations.

Before embarking on their honeymoon, Nicholas and Judith also cut their wedding cake in the presence of the head of state, a momentous occasion for the middle-aged couple.

A deputy registrar from the Attorney General’s Office presided over Nicholas and Judith’s wedding.

Initially, the assistant registrar asked the groom to remove the veil and confirm that the woman on the other end of the aisle was indeed the bride, a move that allowed hundreds of people to witness the union.

In addition, Nicholas and Judith were reminded of the significance of the union. The groom was informed of his vow to have only one wife.

After exchanging their vows, the couple signed their marriage license as Zabron Singers’ infamous song Sweetie Sweetie played in the background.

The ceremony lasted approximately five minutes.
