    Couple caught running bhang factory in the family home after police raid

    It was the end of the road for a middle-aged couple who were arrested at their home in Kikuyu, Kiambu County, on Monday, May 15, while processing cannabis, also known as bhang.

    The couple was apprehended as a result of a sting operation aided by police informants who alerted authorities to suspicious activity within the compound.

    Kikuyu Sub-county Police Commander Donald Kirui disclosed to GossipA2Z that in response to the tip, a contingent of police officers raided the residence and blocked all possible escape routes during morning operations.

    “The incident occurred in the village of Kikambura, at the residence of a recurrent drug trafficker.” Our team was able to arrest him alongside his wife.

    “Upon search, we recovered 500 rolls of bhang valued at Ksh50,000 and approximately 100 kilograms of unprocessed bhang valued at around Ksh1,000,000,” Kirui said.

    Inside the residence, Kikuyu police discovered a complex factory. That was transforming bhang into a powdered substance and repackaging it into small rolls.

    “We also recovered additional paraphilia utilized in the processing and packaging of bhang. The bhang was bound for a market and schools in the Kikukuu region.

    Kikuyu Sub-county Police Commander disclosed that the offender had been under surveillance. For seven days before his court appearance for a similar infraction.

    Kirui also noted that the suspect was no stranger to the law. As he had been arrested and arraigned multiple times previously.

    “The court fined him Ksh80,000 and released him, but he did not stop; rather, he moved his factory to his home and continued processing and packaging the illegal product,” Kirui disclosed.

    Kikuyu police officers requested assistance from the Judiciary. In preventing drug dealers from destroying the lives of innocent children in the Kikuyu area.

    Regarding the ongoing crackdown on illicit brews and drug abuse in Central Kenya. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua reaffirmed on May 10. That the Kenya Kwanza Administration is committed to combating alcohol and drug abuse. Stating that the government will not cease its efforts until the order is restored.

    “I must restore the expectations of our generation. The only way to find a solution is to first acknowledge that a problem exists, and that we cannot lose an entire generation to drug abuse. We will prevail in this matter, the DP stated.

    According to Gachagua, a lasting solution to the drug problem is imminent, and members of the county assemblies are currently formulating a policy to regulate the sale of alcohol and licensing.
