Obey or Resign- President Ruto Issues Ultimatum to 34 CEOs Over Non-Compliance
President William Ruto has issued a stern warning to 34 Chief Executive Officers of government agencies for failing to digitize their operations via the e-Citizen platform. This initiative aims to enhance transparency and streamline government services.
During the first anniversary event of the e-Citizen Directorate in Nairobi, the president publicly named the CEOs and gave them a one-week ultimatum to comply. He threatened serious consequences, including dismissal, for non-compliance.
The president criticized the agencies for ignoring a direct order and engaging in questionable practices to solicit funds.
“These organizations have not adhered to my directive requiring all services and revenue payments to be integrated into the e-Citizen platform. This system ensures that the Treasury can monitor government revenue collections. They have one week to comply, or they can find the door—it’s that straightforward,” Ruto stated.
Additionally, Ruto called out state agencies already on the e-Citizen platform but using alternative payment methods to siphon funds. He demanded a detailed report on such practices within three days.
“We still have agencies that, despite being on the platform, occasionally revert to dubious payment methods involving certain banks,” Ruto warned. “I expect a comprehensive record from the past three months of such instances on my desk within three days.”
The president reaffirmed his commitment to fostering transparency and integrity in government operations.
