Exposed: Web of 19 Companies That Could Make or Break Gachagua in Impeachment Battle
The impeachment motion has pointed out several companies as part of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s network, consisting of at least 19 organizations, including two foundations. Most of these companies were registered between 2001 and January this year, as per official records.
The documents show that these firms list their offices at locations in Nairobi such as State House Road, Lang’ata, the city center, and the Deputy President’s official residence in Karen.
These companies form a key part of the evidence in the ongoing impeachment proceedings against Gachagua, who has portrayed himself as a ‘truthful man.’ His acknowledgment that his family owns some of the mentioned properties appears to have worsened his situation.
A Nation.Africa investigation aimed at uncovering the truth behind the impeachment claims has revealed that three of the 22 companies linked to Gachagua had no records at the official registrar of companies.
The Deputy President, Mr. Gachagua, remains central to these companies, along with his wife, Dorcas Wanjiku Rigathi, and their two sons, Kevin Gachagua and Keith Ikinu.
A major question in the impeachment hearings is whether it is legal for a public official to register private companies using an official residence as the listed address.
The investigation found that two companies and a foundation operate from the Deputy President’s official residence, while another company is registered at Harambee House Annex, the Deputy President’s office.

According to official company registry documents, Gachagua is a director at Grand Bypass Apartments Limited, owned by Vipingo Beach Resort Limited, with John Mwai Mathenge and Peter Njoroge Regeru also listed as directors. Grand Bypass Apartments was registered on January 11 of this year.
Records also indicate that Gachagua’s spouse, Ms. Dorcas, fully owns Spirit Way Ltd, which was registered on November 14, 2023, a year after the 2022 General Election. Ms. Dorcas holds all 100 issued shares, and the company’s office is located at the Fortis Suites building in Nairobi’s Upper Hill estate.
Mr. Gachagua’s sons, Kevin and Keith, own Fortis Vis Group Limited, which was registered on February 14, 2023. The company operates from the Deputy President’s official residence, as per official records.
They are also directors of Vipingo Beach Resort Limited, fully owned by the estate of the late James Nderitu Gachagua. Vipingo Beach Resort, registered in April 2023, also owns Kuruwitu Properties, forming another link in the Gachagua family empire.
In June 2009, Gachagua and his wife registered Biovet (K) Limited, with each holding 200 shares. The company is also part of the ongoing impeachment case.
Mrs. Rigathi, who also serves as a pastor, owns a majority of shares (950) in Calvary Creed International Limited, with Gachagua holding the remaining 50 shares. This company was incorporated in April 2015.
The deputy president and his spouse also own Heartland Supplies Limited, with each holding an equal stake of 200 shares. The company was incorporated in June 2009.
Additionally, Gachagua and his wife own Karandi Farm Limited, where Gachagua holds 700 shares and Dorcas owns 300.
Kevin and Keith also hold shares in Cosmere Ventures alongside four others. Each shareholder has between 50 and 250 shares, and the company was registered on February 26, 2018.

The Gachagua sons also have equal shares in Crystal Kenya Limited, registered on June 12, 2009. This company took a loan of Sh300 million in November 2023, secured against its assets.
The impeachment claims to accuse Gachagua of using his sons as proxies in acquiring companies, including Outspan Hotel for Sh535 million. Gachagua will need to explain how his sons managed to raise the remaining Sh235 million.
The petition also claims that his sons purchased another hotel, Treetops Lodge in Nyeri County, in 2023. In August 2024, Gachagua publicly admitted that his family owned the property.
Gachagua and his wife independently registered foundations. Gachagua registered the Rigathi Gachagua Foundation on November 11, 2022, while his wife registered the Dorcas Rigathi Foundation a month earlier, on October 19, 2022.
Other companies linked to Gachagua include Morani Manufacturers Limited, Mothers of the Land Limited, Ridor Furniture Mart Limited, Royal Crimson Ventures, Technical Supplies and Services (K) Limited, and Wamunyoro Investments Limited.
The impeachment motion further alleges that Gachagua and unnamed proxies acquired Olive Gardens Hotel, Queens Gate Serviced Apartments, Vipingo Beach Resort, Riara One Apartments, and Lang’ata View Apartments.

Gachagua is also linked to land parcels, including one in Mathira East Constituency, where he allegedly constructed a helicopter landing facility. He is also accused of acquiring 40 acres in Kakuret, Nyeri County, 80 acres in Meru County, and a dairy farm in Nyandarua County.
The petition claims Gachagua used his influence to obtain land for Wamunyoro Investments Limited through fraudulent means, which was then used to support a court case.
Gachagua will also face questions regarding his alleged involvement in the Sh3.7 billion malaria nets procurement scandal. The petition claims companies linked to him and unnamed proxies were involved in the irregular procurement, jeopardizing millions of Kenyan lives.
Gachagua is scheduled to defend himself against these allegations in Parliament on October 8.
