Govt to Inspect All Projects After Morara Kebaso’s Exposés
The government is set to undertake a comprehensive nationwide inspection of development projects initiated by President William Ruto, amid allegations of non-existent project launches, according to a statement made by Government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura on Thursday.
In his media briefing at KICC in Nairobi, Mwaura criticized the launch campaign led by activist Kebaso Morara and outlined that the inspection would be carried out by officials from the Office of the President, tasked with a thorough evaluation of these projects.
Mwaura emphasized that while the government values the freedom of expression from critics of these projects, he encouraged them to approach their criticisms with a sense of national patriotism.
The inspection will involve visits from officials from both Mwaura’s office and the President’s office to various project sites, including those in remote areas, to verify the status of projects, particularly those that are stalled or incomplete despite receiving budget allocations.
Mwaura assured that the inspection would verify whether the projects on paper align with what is being executed on the ground.

The spokesperson acknowledged that the inspection was prompted by social media outcry and aims to clarify discrepancies between the reported and actual status of projects.
He noted, “There are claims that the actual situation diverges from the official accounts, and we need to address this issue.”
Recently, activist and lawyer Kebaso Morara launched a campaign to inspect state projects personally, revealing troubling cases of projects that were allegedly abandoned or inadequately funded.
Morara criticized the president’s projects, stating that they either fail to commence, stall, or suffer from severe mismanagement of public funds. “Everywhere, it’s a crime scene. Kenya is a crime scene. It needs to be fenced off for investigations,” he remarked during a recent interview.
In response, the Government Spokesperson explained that the decision for a project inspection stemmed from reports of new government projects with little to no public information.
He further mentioned that a team has already been deployed to areas like Homa Bay and Konza City to follow up on the status of some of these projects.
