Moses Kuria Blasts DP Gachagua with Ruto Watching
Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, who was appointed as a senior advisor to the Council of Economic Advisors on Friday, criticized Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua the following day.
Gachagua had expressed his intention to unify the Mt. Kenya region, prompting Kuria’s rebuke.
During a speech at Wycliffe Oparanya’s homecoming, Kuria accused Gachagua of fostering division for personal political advantage.
Kuria argued that Gachagua’s comments would lead to further fragmentation and separate Mt. Kenya from the broader nation, undermining efforts toward national unity.
He urged the people of Mt. Kenya not to be misled by claims of self-isolation, emphasizing the importance of national unity. “There is beauty and sweetness in bringing all Kenyans together,” Kuria asserted.

Kuria also appealed to leaders not to misguide their followers, expressing his refusal to be drawn into misleading politics. He acknowledged witnessing attempts by some leaders to misdirect Kenyans and vowed to stay clear of such tactics.
Additionally, Kuria sought forgiveness from Azimio leader Raila Odinga for his harsh remarks during the campaign period.
He praised President Ruto for appointing him as the senior advisor on economic matters and committed to addressing challenges faced by various ministries.
Kuria’s remarks against Gachagua followed the latter’s statements in Kajado County, where he confidently claimed success in uniting the Mt Kenya region. Gachagua criticized his detractors, who he said only voiced their opposition in private forums rather than publicly.
The Deputy President also shared his plan to apply the same unification principles he used for Mt. Kenya to the Maasai community, questioning the logic of advocating unity for others if his own region remains divided.
