Kakamega Man Found Dead in Bed after Alleged Theft by Lover
Detectives in Kakamega are actively investigating a tragic and unsettling case involving the decomposed body of a middle-aged man discovered at his home weeks after he allegedly sold a plot of land.
The discovery has raised numerous questions and concerns, leading to a thorough investigation by local authorities.
The incident was confirmed by Emmanuel Shikanda, the assistant chief of the Eshibikhwa area, who reported the grim find.
According to Vitalis Mulunga, a neighbor acquainted with the details of the case, the assistant chief informed them of the body’s discovery.
This prompted immediate action as Mulunga and others reached out to the local police for assistance.
Neighbors had been troubled by a pervasive and unpleasant smell emanating from the residence, which led them to investigate further.
Upon entering the house, they were met with the distressing sight of Fredrick Imbugwa’s decomposed body, which was found lying in his bed.
The arrival of police officers from Shikhoti marked the beginning of an official investigation. The officers carefully removed the body from the scene and transported it to a facility in Kakamega for a detailed examination.
This step is crucial as it marks the beginning of a formal inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Mr. Imbugwa’s death.

According to statements from Mr. Imbugwa’s family, there is a belief that he may have taken his own life.

It is reported that Mr. Imbugwa had recently sold a piece of land and later claimed to have lost the proceeds to a woman he was living with.
In a phone call with his sister, Mr. Imbugwa reportedly expressed his despair and threatened to end his life, citing the alleged theft of his money by his partner.
Mulunga, the neighbor, shared additional details, stating, “When we inquired with the family, they mentioned that the deceased had sold a piece of land. However, he had called his sister to say he was going to end his life because the woman he was living with had stolen his money.”
The family is now anxiously awaiting the results of a postmortem examination.
