Azimio Faction Rejects Raila Odinga’s Leadership, Prepares for 2027 Under Kalonzo Musyoka
Joined by Jeremiah Kioni, Eugene Wamalwa, and Ferdinard Waititu in Embu on Sunday, Musyoka emphasized that Uhuru has not given any directive to politicians who claim he urged them to align with President Ruto.
“We have chosen to remain in the opposition for the sake of a functioning democracy, where a robust opposition is vital,” Musyoka stated.
He further stressed their commitment to the opposition role, adding, “We are committed to charting this course for the nation’s good. As we progress, more Kenyans will join this movement for genuine change.”
Jubilee Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni echoed this sentiment, underscoring that the former President strongly opposed the ruling UDA party and would never support alliances with them.
“Kalonzo Musyoka leads the opposition—a government-in-waiting and a credible alternative to the current regime’s failures,” Kioni asserted.
“When people mention Uhuru Kenyatta, they must understand his position. He warned the Mt. Kenya region against supporting UDA due to its inherent issues; it’s contradictory to claim he’s now encouraging ties with the government,” Kioni added.

He noted, “Uhuru has never instructed anyone to align with an unconstitutional government.”
Eugene Wamalwa reaffirmed the opposition’s commitment to standing with the public, particularly the youth who seek change from Ruto’s leadership. “We will not align with the Ruto administration but remain steadfast in being the people’s loyal opposition,” he stated.
Ferdinand Waititu added that he had already distanced himself from UDA. “Those of us who were discontent have left UDA. Kalonzo Musyoka now leads not only Azimio but also those who have defected from UDA,” he disclosed.
Musyoka assured the opposition would maintain a vigilant stance, urging other parties to join their cause.
“As responsible leaders, we are dedicated to eradicating deceit in Kenyan politics. Many of us were mentored by former President Kibaki,” he said, noting that during his time as vice president, he served Kibaki with unwavering loyalty.
